Your GOP Congress at Work

GOP House Top Priority? Xmas Vote!
War in Iraq, war against terrorism, war in Afghanistan, move over -- today, House GOP leaders have decided there is a more pressing war to attend to: the fictional war against Christmas, which apparently requires protection for Christmas symbols. And what happened when Democrats asked that the symbols of Chanukah be protected along with the symbols of Christmas? The House GOP simply said "no."

I resent that fact that Christmas, or any holiday of any religion, can be a legal holiday. To me that is unamerican.

I'm reminded of what was said by a black comedian I once saw. He was discussing Mesa, AZ as being the last town in America not to recognize Martin Luther King day. He said "Someone has to be a true racist not to take a day off from work. I don't care if they call it KKK day... I ain't going to work"! I feel the same way. If the gov wants to make something a national holiday where we don't have to go to work... I'm for it.

I guess I wouldn't go do volunteer work on Christmas at my job either, but that is not the point. The point is that government is honoring a religious holiday, not mention a specific religion's one. I got in major trouble in high school in 1966 by refusing to attend a Christmas celebration in the school auditorum....
