Let's Talk About Sex, Bay-Bee

This is only news because of who's been in charge the past 6 years.

Getting teens to abstain from sex is like trying to stop a monkey from picking its butt.

Oh, and fewer teen pregnancies due to contraceptives means what? Fewer abortions! Yay! Everybody wins!!

Birth control credited with drop in teen pregnancy:
"NEW YORK (Reuters) -- The dramatic declines in teenage pregnancy rates noted in the United States between 1995 and 2002 were largely due to improved contraceptive use, not to abstinence, a new study shows.

'The current emphasis of U.S. domestic and global policies, which stress abstinence-only sex education to the exclusion of accurate information on contraception, is misguided,' warn doctors in a report just released online by the American Journal of Public Health."

A contrasting article from the other side.

Oh the irony.

Not so immaculate, eh?

SFGate: Daily Dish : Pregnant Teen Star Pulls Out of Premiere:
"Keisha Castle-Hughes, the teenage star of a film about the Nativity, has missed its Vatican premiere because she is expecting a baby with her 19-year-old partner.

On Friday Pope Benedict XVI turned down an invitation to attend the screening, reportedly because he was embarrassed the unmarried 16-year-old actress is expecting a child out of wedlock."

Leave it to the Germans.....

This is NOT the same as dipping Willy in a can of latex wall paint, so for all my southern brethren who are already heading out to the garage with one of those "Hey, watch this" visions... DON'T DO IT!

German Sex Educators Plan Spray-On Condom:
"BERLIN (Nov. 30) - German sex educators plan to launch a spray-on condom tailor-made for all sizes.

Jan Vinzenz Krause from the Institute for Condom Consultancy, a Singen-based practice that offers advice on condom use, told Reuters on Thursday the product aimed to help people enjoy better and safer sex lives."

Leave it to the Asians:

Modern romance: Get messaged when love is near:
"NEW YORK (CNN) -- Online dating is so last year. Now, if you're thinking romance, look to your mobile phone.

Match-making companies are creating new services that allow people to post their dating profile online and then automatically receive a text message on a GPS-enabled phone when a match is nearby, say, at a coffee shop around the corner.

The phenomenon, also known as 'mobile romance,' already has arrived in China, home to some 430 million mobile phone users. Most Chinese wireless service providers offer dating services to drive text message usage, which in turn creates revenue, according to Liu Bin, an analyst with BDA China Ltd., a Beijing-based telecommunications consulting firm."

I'd like to thank Rose for aliviating the effects of the menstral cycle for both women AND men.

Co-founder of Haagen-Dazs dies at 90:
"HACKENSACK, N.J. - Rose Mattus, who launched Haagen-Dazs ice cream with her husband, peddling the super-premium treat in grocery stores, has died. She was 90."
