Impeach these SiCKOS

The Simpsons showed why it is still relevant after 400 episodes last Sunday by taking on the retarded disfunction that is mainstream journalism.

In case you missed it, Crooks and Liars has a video clip.

Once again, a la The Daily Show, we are getting truth to power not through our nations actual journalist but from fake journalist... this time a cartoon.

The Simpsons v. the media.:

"The Simpsons v. the media.

In its highly-publicized 400th episode last night, The Simpsons skewered Fox News and modern journalism. At one point, outraged news anchor Kent Brockman confesses to the world:

Friends, the press and the government are in bed together in an embrace so intimate and wrong, they could spoon on a twin mattress and still have room for Ted Koppel. Journalists used to questions the reasons for war and expose abuse of power. Now, like toothless babies, they suckle on the sugary teat of misinformation and poop it into the diaper we call the 6:00 News. Demand more of your government. Demand more of your press."
_______

Like a jobless cousin crashing on your couch... or a sticky booger you just can't seem to wipe off your finger.... these Bushites must be shown the door in a forceful manner.

Sign the petition and watch the video.

Impeach Gonzales:

We, The Undersigned, urge the House Judiciary Committee to begin the process of impeachment of US Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, in accordance with Article II, Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution, which provides for removal of the President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States. We believe the process will prove that Atty. General Gonzales has committed High Crimes and Misdemeanors, including the abuse of power and violation of the public trust, both impeachable offenses."

Check out the first trailer for Michael Moore's documentary SiCKO. Bush and his gang are already trying to censor Moore by putting the IRS and probably every other governmental agency on his ass.

Is there anything Republicans won't pervert? Why do they hate science and sex so?

Smithsonian toned down exhibit on climate change in the Arctic:

"WASHINGTON: The Smithsonian Institution toned down an exhibit on climate change in the Arctic for fear of angering the U.S. Congress and the Bush administration, says a former administrator at the museum.

Among other things, the script, or official text, of last year's exhibit was rewritten to minimize and inject more uncertainty into the relationship between global warming and humans, said Robert Sullivan, who was associate director in charge of exhibitions at the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History.

Also, officials omitted scientists' interpretation of some research and let visitors draw their own conclusions from the data, he said. In addition, graphs were altered 'to show that global warming could go either way,' Sullivan said."

Hey-

I saw that Simpsons episode and thought the exact same thing that i think every time I watch Colbert or Stewart--"Why is it that the only people telling the truth are the so-called comedians?" It is f*cking pathetic. I was a journalism major in my undergrad program and literally day one is about honesty, integrity, and checking sources. Now, it seems that speculation, hearsay, and blind allegiance is what day one of journo scholl is all about. As i said above, f*cking pathetic. I was going to write a similar post, but it is my middle daughter's b-day today, so pain, longing, and heartbreak will carry the day as she is 600 miles away. Alas...I made the bed, now I get to sleep in it.

Journo School is also about good hair and perky boobs, or as The Daily Show coined it the other night... NILF: News I'd Like to Fuck.

Tis pathetic, Townser. I agree.

Trailers. Why does it always have to be trailers? I suppose I should be thankful it didn't involve "keeping it in the family," the other perpetual tag we get.

(me wearing a monacle and sipping tea with my pinky extended...)

We genetically superior Alabamaians aren't quite clear on your West Vah-ginia reference to trailers and 'keeping it in the fahm-ly'.

However we quite familiar with mo-bile domiciles and intimacy practice with our dear sisters.

tut-tut. pip-pip. and all that.

Hah!

At least now we can claim to be the least average state! Followed closely by West Virginian's favorite, Mississippi (as in, when ever anyone says something bad about WV being 49th in something yet again, "thank god for Mississippi!" which is generally last)

In Alabama we say 'thank god for Mississippi... and West Virginia'!
