Gear Shiftin' Love

*Sigh*. Another reason why I'll never move home.

"Damn, baby, looks like we gonna hafta keep on using the gear shifter".

Next up, Alabama bans cucumbers.

Court Leaves Ala. Sex Toy Ban Intact:

"MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — The U.S. Supreme Court declined Monday to hear a challenge to Alabama's ban on the sale of sex toys, ending a nine-year legal battle and sending a warning to store owners to clean off their shelves. An adult-store owner had asked the justices to throw out the law as an unconstitutional intrusion into the privacy of the bedroom. But the Supreme Court declined to hear the appeal, leaving intact a lower court ruling that upheld the law. Sherri Williams, owner of Pleasures stores in Huntsville and Decatur, said she was disappointed, but plans to sue again on First Amendment free speech grounds. 'My motto has been they are going to have to pry this vibrator from my cold, dead hand. I refuse to give up,' she said."

Not that McCain matters anymore... and in a stark departure from the man that ran against Bush in 99/00... this type of pandering to the evil effing base of the Republican party.... so, so sad.

Groups criticize McCain for calling U.S. 'Christian nation':

"WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Muslim and Jewish groups on Monday sharply criticized Sen. John McCain's comments that he would prefer a Christian president to lead the United States. art.mccain.nh.ap.jpg GOP presidential hopeful Sen. John McCain campaigns Sunday in Derry, New Hampshire. The Arizona Republican's remarks came in an interview with Beliefnet, a Web site that covers religious issues and affairs. 'I just have to say in all candor that since this nation was founded primarily on Christian principles, personally, I prefer someone who has a grounding in my faith,' the GOP presidential hopeful told the Web site in an interview published Saturday."
This 'christian nation' BS is just that... a load of BS:

Founding Fathers - Religious quotes:

"James Madison, principal author of the constitution:

'The civil Government, though bereft of everything like an associated hierarchy, possesses the requisite stability, and performs its functions with complete success, whilst the number, the industry, and the morality of the priesthood, and the devotion of the people, have been manifestly increased by the total separation of the church from the State.' (1819)."

"'I am tolerant of all creeds. Yet if any sect suffered itself to be used for political objects I would meet it by political opposition. In my view church and state should be separate, not only in form, but fact. Religion and politics should not be mingled.' (Millard Fillmore)

'When the Know-Nothings get control, it will read: 'All men are created equal except negroes, foreigners and Catholics.' When it comes to this I should prefer immigrating to some country where they make no pretence of loving liberty--to Russia, for instance, where despotism can be taken pure, and without the base alloy of hypocrisy.' (Abraham Lincoln)

'Encourage free schools, and resolve that not one dollar of money shall be appropriated to the support of any sectarian school. Resolve that neither the state nor nation, or both combined, shall support institutions of learning other than those sufficient to afford every child growing up in the land the opportunity of a good common school education, unmixed with sectarian, pagan, or atheistical tenets. Leave the matter of religion to the family altar, the church, and the private schools, supported entirely by private contributions. Keep the church and state forever separated.' (Ulysses S. Grant)"
... and on and on and on...

What the hell is wrong with these people.

Victoria needs to spend a little time with a gear shifter or a cucumber.

No hugs allowed at Ill. middle school:

"OAK PARK, Ill. - If you need a hug, you won't get it at Percy Julian Middle School. Principal Victoria Sharts banned hugging among the suburban Chicago school's 860 students anywhere inside the building. She said students were forming 'hug lines' that made them late for classes and crowded the hallways. ADVERTISEMENT Cheap on gas Better for the environment Stylish 'Hugging is really more appropriate for airports or for family reunions than passing and seeing each other every few minutes in the halls,' Sharts said. Another reason to institute the no-hugging policy was that some hugs could be too long and too close, she said."
More like this, world. More like this:

I'd be happiest with an atheist as president. When Kerry started blathering "god bless america" he lost any chance of my voting for him. Likewise panhandlers with "god bless' on their signs...

Plus all these Republicrat presidential candidates falling all over themselves trying show more "faith" than the others, which to me means they are trying to prove themselves more superstitious (just a quality I want in a president).

2013 indeed!

I saw a quote somewhere recently that I really dig. Goes a little something like this....

You'll never encounter a kindness as pure as that of an atheist.

Hey, we ain't the ones starting all of the wars.
