Open Letter to ABC: Don't Airbrush 9/11
9/11 Commission Member is Pissed:
Ben-Veniste rips ABC’s fakeumentary over inaccuracies
The DNC is PISSED:
"ABC is trying to use of the airwaves -- airwaves owned by you and me, and loaned to broadcasters as a public trust -- to slander Democrats and sell a slanderous, irresponsible fraud to the American people, and they're shamefully doing it just weeks away from Election Day."The Big Dog is PISSED:
"September 7, 2006 -- WASHINGTON - A furious Bill Clinton is warning ABC that its mini-series 'The Path to 9/11' grossly misrepresents his pursuit of Osama bin Laden - and he is demanding the network 'pull the drama' if changes aren't made"Mady and Sandy are PISSED:
"Former secretary of state Madeleine K. Albright called one scene involving her 'false and defamatory.' Former national security adviser Samuel R. 'Sandy' Berger said the film 'flagrantly misrepresents my personal actions.' And former White House aide Bruce R. Lindsey, who now heads the William J. Clinton Foundation, said: 'It is unconscionable to mislead the American public about one of the most horrendous tragedies our country has ever known.'"Bloggers are PISSED:
How do you fictionalize one of the greatest tragedies in American history, not to mention a tragedy that only happened a few years ago?Now ABC will apparently run a disclaimer during the fakumentary.
...
You don't just go make shit up, derogatory shit at that, about key players who are still alive no less. You don't market the TV show to children around the country as though it's fact. You don't put out statements claiming the thing is based on the September 11 report when it's also based on fiction. How are viewers supposed to know which part of the libelous broadcast is fictionalized?
...
They libeled living officials of our government. And now they plan on pedaling this garbage to millions of Americans right before the election - an election that Disney/ABC is helping to throw."
Doesn't matter, though, unless ABC pulls this piece of shit from the airwaves. Look at this:
Path to 9/11 Writer Admits Controversial Scene Was ‘Improvised,’ ‘Accidents Occur’:
"ABC is marketing its docudrama, The Path to 9/11, as “based on the 9/11 Commission Report.” It is defending the films multiple inaccuracies by claiming some scenes were “drawn from a variety of sources.”Yeah, its going to be an accident when you find several feet up your ass sideways, you conservative fuck.
But yesterday, writer and avowed conservative Cyrus Nowrasteh admitted that the films most controversial scene was based on nothing at all. Nowrasteh told a right-wing radio station that the scene was “improvised.” From the New York Times:"
Nowrasteh’s attitude appears completely inconsistent with ABC Entertainment President Steve McPherson. In promotional materials accompanying the film, McPherson said, “When you take on the responsibility of telling the story behind such an important event, it is absolutely critical that you get it right.”
But the unkindess cut of all is the marketing of this lie to the chil'rens in order to indoctrinate them into the brown shirts.
CONFIRMED: Scholastic Still Promoting Path To 9/11:
"Scholastic has been promoting ABC’s Path to 9/11, and associated “discussion guides” to teachers around the country as a way of getting “important information” to students about the terrorists attacks. These materials, as Media Matters has documented, are “rife with conservative misinformation.”
Raise hell early and often over this mockumentary. Here is all the contact info you need. Send emails, make phone calls, take an hour out of your day and DO IT!

Please, jeebus, please... someone give me a good laugh....
OUT OF CONTROL:
"WYCLEF Jean is not a fan of President Bush - or of savoir-faire. The former Fugee went on a drunken tirade Saturday night at Mixx in the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Vegas after performing with Nelly Furtado at Taj. At Mixx, Jean proclaimed, 'President Bush needs to smoke marijuana . . . [Bleep] Bush!' He then leapt into the crowd - which started chanting '[Bleep] Bush!' - and proclaiming, 'I'm not Diddy, I don't need no security,' as he pushed back 500-plus people with the mike in one hand and a glass of champagne in the other."Fugee-la-hahahahaha. Thanks, Wyclef, but we all know Bush prefers the nose candy.

Human heads dumped in Mexico bar:
"Armed, masked men have burst into a bar in Mexico and flung five human heads onto a crowded dance floor, in an apparent warning to a rival drug gang.
An official said 20 men entered the bar in Uruapan city, Michoacan state, fired into the air, forced revellers to lie down and then 'threw down five heads'."

JPW----I am as outraged as you by this and have been spreading the word. Relates directly, obviously, to yesterday's fascism blog. And I agree that it is exteremely dangerous because I think/fear most Americans get all their "news" from television anyway. HOWEVER, I find it pretty disturbing that all these Democrats are all in a tither that they themselves are portrayed in a bad light in the movie. Why haven't they been in a tither to prevent and stop the war and its death and suffering? Typical Democrats. That is why in good conscience I almost always vote Green or Peace & Freedom, etc. These people do not speak up for, work for, peace and justice. These are pro-war people. Even in this case all they want is their reputations clean. These are not my people.
