Stoned Ecstasy

Rolling Stone producing some of the best and most sound political commentary/reporting of just about any other news source going.

The following article is about my man Gore. After reading this article, for the first time, I feel that there is a real chance this man might run again. The... best... possible thing to happen to the states in 21st, IMO.

Give it a read:

Rolling Stone : Why Gore Should Run -- And How He Can Win:
"A stiff Vice President campaigns on his administration's legacy of unprecedented prosperity. Looks terrible on TV. Bows out, following a disputed vote count. Then, two terms later, with no incumbent in the race, he re-enters the fray. Promises to change the course of a disastrous war founded on lies. And charges to victory. I'm referring, of course, to the 1968 campaign of Richard Milhous Nixon. But four decades later, history has a chance to repeat itself for Albert Arnold Gore.

If the Democrats were going to sit down and construct the perfect candidate for 2008, they'd be hard-pressed to improve on Gore.

How could you not vote for a man whose documentary is up for a couple of Oscars:

Gore film up for best documentary:
"Al Gore may have lost the 2000 presidential election by the slimmest of margins, but the former vice president is hoping his critically acclaimed movie on global warming, 'An Inconvenient Truth,' experiences a different fate at the upcoming Oscars,' reports CNN. 'The movie received two Oscar nods Tuesday -- one for best documentary and one for best original song: Melissa Etheridge's 'I Need to Wake Up.'.'"

I mean, can the U.S. endure another complete doofus a la:

President's Portrayal of 'The Enemy' Often Flawed

It all becomes moot unless we fix this:

Election staff convicted in recount rig:
"CLEVELAND — Two election workers were convicted Wednesday of rigging a recount of the 2004 presidential election to avoid a more thorough review in Ohio's most populous county."
Ohio? Hmmmmm, what was it about Ohio that gave the presidency to Bush? Hmmmmmm

Oh, and we also need to fix this:

Eschaton:
"This is a point I've returned to repeatedly, but the mainstream media - the 'serious' media - really needs to figure out how to handle outlets like Fox. Aside from their complete lack of ethics or standards, they also imagine (or claim to imagine) they're correcting an imbalance which doesn't exist. "

Speaking of a comeback story that would rival Gore's should he run and win:

Former 'Bad News Bear' now up for Oscar:
"LOS ANGELES, California (Hollywood Reporter) -- 'Jubilation. Pure unbelievable joy. This is a day of all days,' said Jackie Earle Haley, who secured an Oscar nomination Tuesday for his supporting role in 'Little Children.'"
