A Real Texan

We couldn't afford to lose someone like Molly Ivins. If you aren't familiar with Molly then go here and read her articles.... all of them.

The world just got a little darker, less wittier and there's one less voice that knows how to speak truth to power.

Rest ye, Molly. Rest ye.

Syndicated columnist Molly Ivins dies:
"“We are the people who run this country. We are the deciders. And every single day, every single one of us needs to step outside and take some action to help stop this war,” Ivins wrote in the Jan. 11 column. “We need people in the streets, banging pots and pans and demanding, ’Stop it, now!”’"

JPW----Thanks so much and major Davy kudos for devoting your space today entirely to one of the best humans of my lifetime. We are so lucky that her intelligence, clear-sightedeness, courage and compassion will live on in her words and deeds. Here is a quote from Anthony Zurcher in today's San Francisco Chronicle: "Molly was remarkably humble. She was known for hosting unforgettable parties at her Austin home, which would feature rollicking political discussions, and impromptu recitals and satirical songs. At one such event, I noticed her dining table was littered with various awards and distinguished speaker plaques, put to use as trivets for steaming plates of tamales, chili and fajita meat. When I called this to her attention, Molly matter-of-factly replied, 'Well, what else am I going to do with 'em?'"

Thanks for the Molly quote, Dave. Life's just not fair with the O'Reillys and Malkins of the word are still around yet we lose a person like Molly.
