I'm back, y'all!
I'm sitting here in my office *sigh*.... staring at a bunch of work emails that I could give one craptacular crap about.... and my one new penny shiny glimmer of goodness is that I'm back to full time blogging. I've missed it and everyday that I haven't blogged I've felt like I forgot to put on deodorant on that day.
I'm back, but as with all exertions, I'll want to make sure I'm properly warmed up.... do my stretches.... not get too many head and neck vein erections over the political insanity that's occurred over the last 2 weeks (*cough* SCOOTER *cough* lying-sacks-of-shit Republicans *cough* pussy ass Democrats not doing enough to stop this occupation *cough* that last cough was a real one... got a little phlegm going this morning.....)
Again, thanks for all the comments and emails regarding my Granddad's passing. He was a swell human being who taught me a lot.
I'll have a few back home pictures up later this week.
I'll skirt the long commentary today in favor of curt, snarky one-liners.
On to the show.
Support the troops my ass:
Republicans Kill Webb's Troop-Protection Amendment:
"We didn't need any further proof that Congressional Republicans really don't give a damn about the troops or their families but we just got it in the United States Senate anyway.
Just moments ago, Senate Republicans succeeded in a filibuster in which they refused to end debate on Virginia Democrat Jim Webb's S. 2012, which would have placed strict limits on National Guard and reserve deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan as well as mandating more downtime at home before active-duty combat troops are returned to battle.
The vote was 56-41 to end debate, with 60 votes needed to move to a full, up-or-down vote on the Webb measure. Once again, the GOP has been successful at destroying another Democratic attempt at helping service members and their families caught in the buzzsaw of the Bush administration's lies and incompetence."

President Douche bag makes little girls cry by being a.... big ass douche bag.
The Washington Times, America's Newspaper:
"A question for President Bush on immigration rose up like a ghost from the grave this afternoon in Ohio.
Only the questioner was a 13-year old blonde-headed girl, Jessica Hackerd, from Brecksville, Ohio, who immediately broke into tears after making her inquiry.
'Mr. President, I know immigration has been a big problem in the U.S. And what is your next step with the immigration bill?' Jessica asked Mr. Bush, during a question and answer period after a speech Mr. Bush gave to a Cleveland business group.
Mr. Bush's sarcastic reply -- a wry 'yeah, thanks' -- drew laughter from the crowd of 400. But the attention caused young Jessica, who characterized herself in an interview afterward as very shy, to immediately tear up.

I can't come up with anything better that what Chairman Thompson asked, "what color code in the Homeland Security Advisory System is associated with a 'gut feeling?"
Homeland security chair responds to Chertoff's 'gut':
"Following yesterday's statement by Homeland Security chief Michael Chertoff's that his remarks on the increased risk of terrorism this summer were based 'on a gut feeling,' the Homeland Security Committee Chairman Bennie G. Thompson has sent a letter to Chertoff demanding an explanation, 'what color code in the Homeland Security Advisory System is associated with a 'gut feeling?' What sectors should be on alert as a result of your “gut feeling?”"

Some folks may get a little antsy when I'm on a christian bashing roll, but, jeez, come on, these theocrats are dangerous. If you proclaim to be a christian but you don't agree with all of the hate a rather large segment of your religion supports and you're not out there daily trying to remedy what's broke with your religion, well, then, you're just as large a part of the problem.
Christian Right Activists Disrupt Hindu Chaplain In The Senate:
"Today was a historic first for religion in America's civic life: For the very first time, a Hindu delivered the morning invocation in the Senate chamber — only to find the ceremony disrupted by three Christian right activists.
We have video of the astonishing scene, and we'll be sharing it with you shortly.
The three protesters, who all belong to the Christian Right anti-abortion group Operation Save America, and who apparently traveled to Washington all the way from North Carolina, interrupted by loudly asking for God's forgiveness for allowing the false prayer of a Hindu in the Senate chamber.
'Lord Jesus, forgive us father for allowing a prayer of the wicked, which is an abomination in your sight,' the first protester began."

Tough freakin' crowd.
Woman Shot While Singing at Wyo. Bar:
"A woman was shot and killed early Saturday while she sang with a band at a restaurant and bar, police said. They were looking for her estranged husband, a National Guardsman who they said had sniper training.
Robin Munis was shot in the head with one gunshot that came from outside the Old Chicago restaurant where she had been performing just after midnight, Cheyenne police Capt. Jeff Schulz said. No one else in the restaurant was hurt."_______
