Fred Thompson as Freddie Kruger

Woot! PHood tonight in San Francisco.

_______

Couple of sporting notes before I get to the outrage....

Hell yeah, Roll Tide!

Braves not being on TBS.... hard to imagine.

Don't Watch TBS In 2008 and beyond Petition

______

"Good to be at OPEC" (It's APEC jackass). "... Austrian Troops..." (It's Australian troops, jackass).

And the kicker... he almost falls off the stage.

So, so embarrassing. No wonder the rest of the world hates us.

Bush has bad day at Sydney Opera House

_______

A bloody, f'ing wishing well for sure.

Daily Kos: Pennies of War:

"The Iraq War has always functioned as bloody wishing well. You throw Americans down the hole in exchange for a wish: a fervent wish for a region transformed, and a country rebirthed, and a legacy untarnished. If it doesn't work, do it again. American lives continue to be the cold commerce of foreign policy failures, the spent loose change of patriotism."
_______

I wasn't even going to ever mention the Dawn of the Dead character that's running for prezNit until he popped off with this stupid shite.

He Fred, America was freakin' founded on dissent you gd moron. We wouldn't even be a country with your 'logic' (and I use that term very loosely).

Fred Thompson's alternate reality:

"You know that tea tax seems a bit unfair and it kinda pisses me off and I really want to raise hell about it, but.... If I spoke up and raised hell there may be a 'heavy price' to pay and it may make the British look 'weak' and I don't want to embarrass them in front of the other countries... so I guess I'll just keep my mouth shut and go along to get along" - George Washington (some dude who never amounted to shite a couple of hundred years ago but was a patriot for keeping his gd mouth shut).

Suitcase bombs?!? Really?!? Watch much '24', Freddie? If you want to scare people, Freddie just STFU and put your face on camera. No need to speak.

F off Fred Thompson.

Fred Thompson: Dissent makes US 'weak,' carries 'heavy price':

"In his first interview since declaring his presidential candidacy, Fred Thompson repeatedly warned against the perils of a 'weak and divided' nation, raised the specter of unspecified terrorists with suitcase bombs, and expressed a willingness to employ nuclear weapons against Iran. 'If you're politically committed against this war and to do something to further harm the president, the way the Democrats seem to be in Congress, then anything [in the Petraeus Report] that's a mixed message is going to be seized upon in a negative way,' Thompson told Fox News on Thursday. 'If we look weak and divided in this country, we're going to pay a heavy price for it in the future,' he went on. 'We're living in the era of the suitcase bomb. And they're not going to go away. They're here now, they're armed and dangerous, and they're trying to get weapons of mass destruction.' When asked about Iran, Thompson replied, 'They're killing our people as we speak. ... We cannot allow this to go on forever. ... Within the next few years, most experts think, well on their way to making a nuclear weapon. ... I don't know how much stark the situation could be. They perceive us as being weak, they perceive us as being divided, and they think they could get away with anything.'"
_______

Crack Tax gets whacked.

Jeebus, just make it legal already then you can actually collect taxes on it. Shite ain't hard to figure out.

My Way News - Appeals Court Tosses Tenn.'s 'Crack Tax'

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Tennessee's tax on illegal drugs is "arbitrary, capricious and unreasonable," an appeals court declared in ruling the "crack tax" was unconstitutional because it derives revenue from illegal activities.

The law allows the state to go after the belongings of people who are caught with illegal drugs or alcohol that don't bear the special tax stamps, regardless of the outcome of their criminal cases.

_______

You've got to be pretty damn desperate to get discount plastic surgery.

Pair Arrested for Alleged Home Surgeries:

"A couple were arrested after authorities said they performed illegal and disfiguring cosmetic surgeries in their filthy home, filled with drugs and syringes. Ha Nguyen, 48, and Zbigniew Makowski, 62, were arrested Wednesday on suspicion of practicing medicine without a license and child endangerment. Four children were removed from their home by child-welfare officials, authorities said."

You guys must be real proud of a Prez who is not sure where he is and who he is adressing. NOT. If he wasn't so scary he'd make a pretty sweet cartoon character, or a Mr Bean sidekick maybe?
One of our Members of Parliament from the Maori Party, Hone Harawira, which is a staunch supporter of indigenous peoples' rights recently called Australian Prime Minister John Howard a 'racist bastard' on live TV. Not really funny because it's true, but good to hear the honesty all the same. Hone Harawira then went to Australia to show support to Aborigines in their native enclaves.
Aborigines were basically banished to the desert to "tribal lands" decades ago, much the same as the American Indians. Usually the shit unproductive parts of Australia.
Since then drug and alcohol abuse has become rife and from that has come sexual abuse and violence. Howard has decided that this is no good (now that Aboriginal rights have become cool) so has sent in the police and army to some homelands to sort the people out. WTF did they expect to happen when the chucked them out in the desert, gave them booze and pretty much nothing else? No hospitals, no education, no nothing.
It turns out the Australian government was a bit too smart for itself. Underneath these supposedly worthless tribal lands turns out to be some of the biggest natural stores of uranium in the world.
The consensus is that the Government wants the land back and is making a big deal of 'including' the aborigines back into society to enable a land grab. Racist Bastard? And the rest mate!

Our (New Zealand) Government recently discovered that the Australian Government had been leasing planes from our national carrier (Air New Zealand) to fly their troops to Afghanistan and Iraq. They've told them that we don't support the war and don't want them using our planes to get their troops to the war. The Aussie government has turned around and told us they won't be leasing planes from us at all anymore. Feckin sweet! I hadn't realised that we leased out our planes to other governments anyway, but to fly troops around the world? Cmon. I'm glad to see our government show a bit of backbone and stand up to the local bullies. Fly your own troops around fella!

Dude, the rest of the world doesn't hate you guys, but US foreign policy since WWII hasn't exactly endeared your government to people worldwide.
It's pretty obvious though that large parts do hate America and the way it acts like the world's sherrif.
We even had anti-American protests here yesterday at the signing of an agreement to allow NZers who have just graduated University to work in the States for up to 1 year (instead of the 4 months or so it was previously). Not real violent, but some scuffles and arrests. Bit of a shock really that there is that much depth of feeling within the youth of NZ towards America's involvement in Iraq etc.

Are you guys getting any coverage of the Rugby World Cup? the USA national team is in there! Now that's a real World Cup.

Take care fella, hope you enjoyed the Patterson Hood show tonight. I heard a couple of tracks from his new album on his myspace page yesterday. I thoroughly enjoyed Killers and Stars (even the dog snoring. LOL) and am looking forward to the new one.
Still waiting on a copy of Jason Isbell's album to turn up here. Should order it off the net, but I like to find stuff in record stores. Old school? You betcha!

You ABAT,

Patterson's show was awesome. Very intimate with some obscure songs I've never heard live. Really a fine time.

I'm the same as you as far as buying from local records stores. I'm lucky that in SF we have a few really good locally owned joints.

Nobodies been proud of this Prez for a long time besides the D.C. chattering class (DC pundits/media).

Howard is Georgie's soul mate. They are two peas in a pod. I read of his plans for the indigenous folks a few weeks ago. It is a bloody shame what happens to indigenous folks there, in the U.S. and in all parts of the world. Talk about getting royally screwed.

They only give a shit when money is to be made. In the states there's a slang term for someone who gives you something then takes it back. "Indian Giver".

Glad NZ told Australia to get f'd on the planes.

Our 'sheriffs' all come from one party and that's the Republicans. They are the jocks in high school who peaks in 12 grade then become a police officer to regain past glory. All very juvenile... they really suck.

Shot me an email at alabamaasswhuppin@att.net about Jason's record and if you want a copy.

I went to Tower Records in SF while we were there. Great stuff. Managed to get some old Death Angel and Agnostic Front CDs. My lady and I spent a few days staying down by Fishermans Wharf. Had an excellent time and it was our favourite city. Great people, great food, great CDs.

I'll drop you a line - I do some animation and art stuff on DVD and I'd like to send one over.

Sweet?

Cheers,

Alastair

Alastair,

Hell yeah, very sweet! I'd love to check out your work. Didn't know you were an artist.

You'll be saddened to hear that Tower Records closed its doors for good a few months ago. A real shame. I went in and bought some seriously discounted music.

And, yes, SF has some of the best food in the states.

Drop me a line and I'll send you some stuff, too.
