These aren't the first two boys to try this. Its a wonder there hasn't been a push by a bunch of nanny trolls to ban 'A Christmas Story' due to the multitude of damaged little boy tongues.
Boys Stick Tongues on Frozen Flagpole:

Like thousands of other Alabamians, Wakefield's devotion to Bryant has not diminished since the day Bryant died on Jan. 26, 1983, exactly 25 years ago.

Okay, as far as the flagpole story goes, that happened in the town I live in now. You know, "A Christmas Story" was filmed in Hammond, Indiana. It too, is in the area known as "The Region."
Feelin' kinda proud in an odd sorta way right now...
