In the latest edition DBT cover artist and all around badass Wes Freed Interviews writer Dallas Hudgens with the Dixie Butcher, Jyl Freed chipping in a question or two.
Jyl turned me on to Dallas earlier this year and connected Dallas and I via email. Dallas was kind enough to send me a signed copy of his book Drive Like Hell and I loved it. Really, really loved it.
I want to be in the film version so bad.
Here's my write up on Drive Like Hell back in Feburary.
Check out Dallas Hudgens website and his upcoming book Season of Gene.

While we're talking Wes, he's got some really special DBT art work for sale:
CD Art- Wes Freed:
"For the first time ever, with the blessing of The Drive-by Truckers, Wes is going to sell a couple of pieces of original artwork that The Drive-by Truckers made official use of. We'll be selling them through the website, first come, first served. "

Warm in the Wake is opening up for DBT tonight and tomorrow night.
If you've recently broken a toe or two then you SHOULD NOT listen to this band. Yer metatarsal malady will only be worsen by the foot flapping tunes produced by this Decatur, Georgia based band.
I dig it.
A base of Beatles, a dash of Deathcab, cup of Wilco Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, sprinkle on some Flaming Lips.... some of the boys are from Alabama.... currently making music in Georgia (and we know how good that combo is).
Get to the show early and be sure to check out Warm in the Wake opening for DBT.
Their MySpace page has a free download of their song American Prehistoric

Ah, the artwork. My better half has been doing calculations in his head ever since that announcement was made, trying to figure out if he has the money (which he does, but it's one of those questions of "do I really have it to spend like this?") and how he could possible get himself free in the middle of the class he teaches at noon on Monday. Lots of wishful thinking going on.
Got Beetye's disc and am loving it. Like you said, it gets better with each listen.
Oh, and in case you were not angry enough, check out this jewel from Bill Kristol today: "[W]henever I hear anything described as a heartless assault on our children, I tend to think it's a good idea. I'm happy that the President's willing to do something bad for the kids."
I hope that comment is a lame attempt at a joke, but more than likely it is his honest opinion. I am pretty sure he is a robot programmed to spew the most, thoughtless, ruthless, hateful, vitriolic bullsh*t possible. The sadder thing is that he is respected and paid to utter such crap. Like you said before, Panama is looking better and better.
B: Yeah, if I had hit the damn lottery saturday I would have snatched a couple of them up. c'est la vie
T: Bettye rocks it. One of the best albums all year.
Yeah, I heard Bill "The Bloddy" Kristol farting.. I mean speaking. I say send his ass to Iraq and put him on the front line. I'm tired of the a-holes. Either that or I challenge him to a fist fight right here and now.
Costa Rica ain't too bad either
