DBT Week in Review - 3/28/08

We are gonna DBT YouTube it up today likes its 2008 (I was dreaming when I wrote this. Forgive me if it goes astray).

First, check out the sweet rendition of 'Late for Church' by Here's to the Long Haul:

_______

Notice two things in this DBTube. 1. EZB's kick ass drums. 2. Teen Appeal's..... I mean John Neff's badass guitar playing.
Drive-By Truckers perform Putting People on the Moon at the Opera House in Toronto, March 19, 2008

_______

Here's Everlast/Whitey Ford's song called 'Letters Home from the Stone Garden'. It could be a companion piece to DBT's 'That Man I Shot". I'm really starting to dig this song.

_______

Here's DBT performing 'That Man I Shot' in Kentucky recently. Sound can get blown out at times but the guitar work is of another world especially at the end. You can see Patterson look at Cooley with a 'hell fucking yeah finger point' at the end.

The southern rock article is interesting, but it's not fair to say DBT "wallows too much in tales of incest and NASCAR." One song each (unless I'm forgetting something) is hardly wallowing. Now if he had said they wallow too much in tales of Buford Pusser...

the Dexateens banner only works in myspace (I think). Here's the link to the label's download page:

Very good point, David. Though we do need more incest songs. Not a heavily covered genre for some reason.

Thanks, Anon!

Everlast song is wicked. I got his first couple of Whitey Ford albums years ago and loved them. Have to check the later stuff out.

Hell, it was the NASCAR reference that got me listening to Dirty South and DBT in the first place.

If legend is correct, Cooley wrote Daddy's Cup on a bet.

Yeah, I dig the everlast song too.

Didn't the Truckers sponsor a car a few years ago? I remember seeing some pics of a diecast model. Legends.

Never really got into House of Pain, but I thought What It's Like was an awesome song, must check out the new album when it comes out.
