DBT Week in Review - 5/23/08

AAW Fund Raiser.

Read about it here.

_______

For Cooley and Brent Best.

When I took piano lessons I learned "Private Eyes". Oh yeah. "There watching you. They see your every move. Bay-bee'.

For Hall and Oates, a new appreciation - Los Angeles Times:

"If Daryl Hall and John Oates had merely resurfaced as characters in comedic confrontations with the recent past, their return would mean little musically. But the surge in interest has gone further than a wallow in questionable nostalgia. A couple of years ago, younger artists began to temper the jokey tone of those 'Yacht Rock' references with sincere declarations of love for the group. Ben Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie published a playlist of his favorite H&O songs in the Internet indie bible Pitchfork.com. Brandon Flowers of the Killers declared 'Rich Girl' the most instructive pop single ever written."
_______

Hilarious. EZB is a professional.

dbts : Message: DBT Setlist From Jax!!!:

"EZB was on fire for this show(not that he is not at any other show)
He must be sick though because at one time there was a nose lugee
hanging out of his nose about 2-3 inches and not once did he ever
stop drumming. That right there shows true dedication to the Rock and
Roll and is why we Love all of the these guys and girl!!!!!!

It was pretty funny though!!!!!!"
_______

If you've never heard DBT, then where the hell have you been hiding?

Entertainment - newsjournalonline.com:

"The Drive-By Truckers just may be the best American band you've never heard.

Do yourself a favor: Take the time to listen."
_______

Update: Per binky and Glossary's MySpace this show has been canceled. D'oh.

Myspace.com Blogs - Glossary Double-Header Saturday May 24th - GLOSSARY MySpace Blog:

"All-Ages Show Saturday, May 24
Featuring GLOSSARY, THE SCREAMING JACKS & NOCTURNAL STATIC
At Youth Culture & Arts Center/Tall Grass Studio

This is a benefit for Siegel High School's Rock Club, a student organization that encourages young people to seek out new music and expand their musical knowledge. The club meets weekly to critique music of different genres and is raising funds toward a field trip to the Stax Museum in Memphis."

Sons of Roswell

Dear Friends,

We have some shows coming up this weekend, so hopefully some of you can make it out.
Thursday - May 22, 2008 - Laurel, MS - the Reserve
Saturday - May 24, 2008 - Jackson, MS - Martin's Lounge

We're looking forward to these two shows, especially the return to Martin's. It was one of the best stops on the tour in January and we're most definitely looking forward to this return. We are getting tons of shows in the works and will be continually posting over the next few weeks, so please keep checking back.

Birmingham Fans:
Sorry, but we have had to cancel this Friday's show at the Nick... Although, J.D.'s other band Rise Up Howling Werewolf (featuring members of Pine Hill Haints and the Wednesdays) will be playing instead. Please go see them and the other two great bands on the bill.

We'll see you soon,
Sons of Roswell

This morning Glossary posted that they aren't going to be at that show after all.

That was odd but that's ok as I enjoyed it anyway.
