V-PILF

Just as I don't want a 'have a beer with type of guy' as President, I also don't want my country to have a V-PILF.

Good lord, they didn't even vet her..... Too busy planning on politicizing the Hurricane I guess.

McCain vetter defends Palin review:

"Shortly after Palin was named to the ticket, McCain's campaign dispatched a team of a dozen communications operatives and lawyers to Alaska. That fueled speculation that a comprehensive examination of Palin's record and past was incomplete and being done only after she was placed on the ticket."

McCain Camp Didn't Search Palin's Hometown Paper Archives

_______

Eric Schmeltzer: Palin Almost Recalled As Mayor:

"The other day, I wrote about how Sarah Palin was nothing more than a two-bit hack, given the investigation into her abuse of power as Governor, firing the Public Safety Commissioner when he wouldn't fire her ex-brother-in-law, lied about pressuring the guy to do so, and then showed keen judgment by replacing him with someone who had to resign in two weeks because of sexual harassment problems.

Seems that Palin honed this skill back as Mayor of Wasilla, where she was nearly recalled, for firing the Police Chief and Library Director for not supporting her in her 1996 race for Mayor."

Wasn't me.

Palin's Daughter Pregnant, Campaign Announces:

"Sarah Palin's 17-year-old , unmarried daughter is five months pregnant, the campaign has announced."
_______

Robert J. Elisberg: The Worst Vice-Presidential Nominee in U.S. History:

Selecting Sarah Palin as its choice for a vice presidential candidate is perhaps the worst such choice in American History. To be fair, maybe there are worse choices, but I don't know how bad William O. Butler was when he ran with Lewis Cass against Zachary Taylor."
_______

Daily Kos: Sarah Palin was my mayor:

"Sarah Palin was my mayor.

Today, under Sarah Palin's leadership, Wasilla has become the picture of exurban sprawl: an explosion in the housing stock, tons of new highway expansion, tons of new big box stores and fast food franchises, and absolutely 0 sustainability. Combined with a lack of zoning, and a predilection for building open-pit gravel mines all over the place, and Wasilla could be the poster-town for bad municipal leadership."

And the cherry on top:

_______

Hell, look, I would have been a better selection for V.P. than Palin.

Contrast all this with Obama's acceptance speech last Thursday. Who do you want leading this country?

As my favorite musician (not DBT!) said from the stage last week: McCain's pick could almost make an atheist believe in god.....Really, JHW, "country first", my ass. Is there one human in the U.S. who could say that McInsane tried to pick the best possible person in the whole U.S. to succeed him if needed? Reminds me of Harriet Myers. W's seemingly only professed rational for nominating her was that she was a good christian...

Does the left really want to talk experience, when their hand-picked New Jesus has less experience than Palin? Do you really want to pick at that thread?

Jim Dunn said...

And if you want to talk about politicizing a hurricane, look no further than a former DNC chair.

Prof- What the 'left' wants to talk about is the rash decision making skills (or lack thereof) shown by your presumed nominee for the presidency. Putting, Palin's enormous experience filled resume aside, let's talk about the potential need for vetting a prospective choice before rushing headlong into a decision because it sounds like a great idea. You call it gambling or maverickosity; I call it frightening. I do not want that man anywhere close to the so-called nuclear button and I do not want that woman one breath from the presidency.

JPW- As for your desire to seek the vp nomination; obviously, the McCain campaign did their due diligence in vetting your sorry ass!!!

Oh, prof, we'll yank that thread right out from under you. Yeah, 18 million people 'hand-picked' Obama. Hell, I've got more experience than Palin. I live near Mexico so that makes me freakin' foreign policy genius.

Then, you cite 'Newsbusters'? Really?! Next you'll cite some 9/11 conspiracy site or worse yet, FAUX News.

And, AND the article quotes someone supposedly sitting behind the DNC chair on a plane? You guys never get tired of just making shit up, do you prof.

I heard from my cousin's girlfriend's foster father's baby-daddy that Palin, last night in Minn., was caught spoon feeding fetuses to old man McCain... while she was wearing a chicken suit.

You've had your 8 years to fuck everything up, prof. Step aside and let the adults clean you shit up.

Okay, don't take NewsBusters' word for it. Take Don Fowler's word for it.

http://www.swamppolitics.com/news/politics/blog/2008/08/gustav_apology_by_dem_god_on_o.html

Now, I guess it's conceivable that the video is a cunning fabrication, so cunning that Fowler felt compelled to apologize for not really appearing in it.

As far as Palin's inexperience, she's running for vice president, not president. So the true comparison would be between her and Biden, not her and Obama. And I will readily concede that Biden has literally decades more experience than Palin. No question. However, for a campaign that has run on the themes of hope and change and "not the same old politics," I don't know that you can consider that a positive.

My point is that the Republican's VP pick has far more experience than Obama.

AAW said...

Fair enough. Credit where credit is due. But don't you think the whole Fowler incident is just a big distraction. I mean, what's his role in Obama's Campaign?

We're going to have politicians from both sides say some really stupid shit over the next few months. I'll bet good money that Biden let's a couple slip.

All repubs can do is make distracting mountains out of mole hills. Can't govern worth a shit as is apparent by the last 8 years.

But you state in your post:

'As far as Palin's inexperience, she's running for vice president, not president. So the true comparison would be between her and Biden, not her and Obama."

Then you state:

"My point is that the Republican's VP pick has far more experience than Obama."

Well, which is it? And how, pray tell does Palin have more 'experience' than Obama? Define 'experience'. And save the 'executive' crap. This ain't a business, its a government. We need someone who can 'govern'.

More experienced attending radical churches who believe all Jews are going to hell:

More experience slashing funding for teen mothers who follow Palins lead of banning all abortions. :

Republican whack-job Dr. Laura is even disappointed in the pick

More experience toeing the corrupt republican line. Supporting bridges to no where. Illegally firing state and city employees who are not 'loyal' to her brand of politics?

http://www.time.com/time/politics/article/0,8599,1837918,00.html

More experience being a member of a radical party that hates America?

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/09/03/alaska-independence-party_n_123501.html

Almost recalled as mayor.... under investigation as Gov. of AK.

Look, as you said, Biden isn't running for Prez. Obama will be the man in charge, period.

Obama has the same amount of governing experience as Lincoln did.

And, this country doesn't need 30 years of D.C. political experience running this country.

You guys are grasping at straws. You had empty seats at the convention last night. Could McCain pack in 84k into a stadium to hear him speak? Do you think 38 million plus will be watching his acceptance speech?

You guys had your chance over the last 30 years. You fucked it up as well as the country. Stand aside and let folks who know what they are doing fix things.

And read Townsers post above and respond to his well thought out remarks.

Jim Dunn said...

"We need someone who can 'govern'."

How much of that has he done? He's a one-term senator who's spent half the term campaigning.

"More experienced attending radical churches who believe all Jews are going to hell."

Is that worse than Jeremiah Wright's beliefs?

"Republican whack-job Dr. Laura is even disappointed in the pick."

I have never once cared one whit what Dr. Laura thinks, and I don't intend to start now.

"More experience toeing the corrupt republican line. Supporting bridges to no where. Illegally firing state and city employees who are not 'loyal' to her brand of politics?"

Um, no. She went against her own party, and she called for the investigation into the state trooper firing.

"More experience being a member of a radical party that hates America?"

Registered Republican since 1982. (I realize I'm leaving myself open to "you're proving my point!" jokes, but I'm a big boy. With a sense of humor.)

"Obama has the same amount of governing experience as Lincoln did."

True. But couldn't you say the same about Palin?

"You had empty seats at the convention last night. Could McCain pack in 84k into a stadium to hear him speak? Do you think 38 million plus will be watching his acceptance speech?"

Obama is most definitely more charismatic than McCain. No argument here. But charisma isn't what I'm looking for in a presidential candidate.

"You guys had your chance over the last 30 years. You fucked it up as well as the country. Stand aside and let folks who know what they are doing fix things."

Thirty years means you go back to 1978. That was halfway through the disastrous Carter administration, and includes eight years of the Clinton administration. So it's not really that the Republicans were running the country with an iron fist all that time. And nobody's stopping the Democrats from, right now, repairing the damage you say the Republicans have done. Yet Congress' approval ratings are even lower than the president's.

I could go on, as could you and Townser, but I doubt either side would give much. (Feel free to rebut my last comments, since your posts have been in response to mine. I'm just saying I'm not going to post any more on this subject.) At the end of the day, politics are still going to be a nasty, nasty business, and the Truckers are still going to be the best band in the universe.

Have a good day.

Now there is our common ground... DBT!

And, you've got a damn cool screen name.

But:

"How much of that has he done? He's a one-term senator who's spent half the term campaigning."

He spent 8 years in the Ill. state legislature, and, regardless of the BS the Repubs spew, his community organizing alone dwarfs any contribution Palin's ever contributed.

"Is that worse than Jeremiah Wright's beliefs? "

Yes. Yes it is.

"Um, no. She went against her own party, and she called for the investigation into the state trooper firing."

Bullshit. She only recently... in the past two days called for an ethics inquiry on herself in a Rovian stall tacktet because she knows she screwed and the state legislatures report is due before the election. Purely cynical on her part:

http://www.mcclatchydc.com/251/story/51592.html

"Registered Republican since 1982."

She has very strong ties to the sessionist AIP and her husband was a member.

"Obama has the same amount of governing experience as Lincoln did."

True. But couldn't you say the same about Palin?

Umm, no. Palin was required to hire a city manager in Wassila who basically did her job because she fucked it up so much.

"But charisma isn't what I'm looking for in a presidential candidate."

All I ask is that you take 45 minutes and watch Obama's acceptance speech. He's no empty suit by any stretch of the imagination.

"Thirty years means you go back to 1978."

Let me clarify: 8 years of Nixon/Ford. 12 years of Reagan/Bush. 8 years of Bush. Republican held both houses 6 of 8 years in Clinton's terms. Repubs can't manage. They are only good at campaigning.

And then you have this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dq4sOM4tpno&eurl

Look, it doesn't have to be nasty. That's Obama's entire point. Its only made nasty when no ideas are available.

You and I want the exact same things for our country. Peace, prosperity and honor. It is up to us to demand that our respective political parties focus on the issues.

We'll start with our common love of DBT and work from their.

But, I beg you, Prof. dig deep and realize that it does not serve you or I well to have a Prez Palin with a finger on the button. If this was Kaye Baily or Olympia Snowe we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Peace.
