Original FAME studios site being recognized with historical marker

FLORENCE -- People aware of the history of Muscle Shoals music likely know the significance of the corner of Tennessee and Seminary streets.

Today, there is nothing but a parking lot there, but for about two years in the early 1960s, it was the location of the original FAME recording studios.

Some 45 years after FAME left Florence to relocate in Muscle Shoals, the site is being recognized with a historical marker.

"This was the starting place of Muscle Shoals music," Rodney Hall said.

"You can talk to people all over the world, in Europe, in England, they know about that drug store at the corner of Seminary and Tennessee streets," Hall said.
